The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XII, in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH) XII, conducted a briefing on Analysis of Causes of National Deaths for Action (ANACONDA) to RHU Doctors, Medical Officers and staff of SOCCSKSARGEN Region on August 8, 2019 at Villa Amor Hotel in Koronadal City. ANACONDA is an electronic tool that assesses the accuracy and completeness of data on mortality and cause of death by checking for potential errors and inconsistencies. The software was built by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) at the University of Basel. The objectives of the briefing were: a) to revisit the basics of reporting the causes of death in the death certificates; b) to introduce the ANACONDA as a tool to analyze/improve the quality of death reporting and statistics; and c) specifically, to address the errors in death certification which leads to poor quality of data. There were twenty-nine (29) participants from various municipalities who attended and actively participated in the briefing. The RHU Doctors were represented by Dr. Gilson Laspiñas of Esperanza, Dr. Efraim Collado of Lambayong, Dra. Arlene H. Cardos of Tampakan, Dr. Chariz May Abalos-Ursabia of Polomolok, Dr. Ariel B.
