The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) XII once again spearheaded the conduct of the annual Data Dissemination and Research Utilization Forum (DDRUF) last October 19, 2018. This activity is annually organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XII and hosted by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XII as one of the highlights of the observance of the National Statistics Month in SOCCSKSARGEN Region. The 7th DDRUF was held at NEDA XII Bldg., Prime Regional Center, Koronadal City as part of the observance of the 29th NSM in the region. The forum aimed to 1) disseminate to development planners and decision-makers the valuable findings of various researches and studies conducted about Region XII/or its localities so they could be utilized as useful inputs in the formulation of more relevant programs and policies that would benefit the people in Region XII; 2) showcase the usefulness of statistics as a powerful tool in research; 3) provide a venue for strengthening the linkage between the academe/research institutions and the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) as active partners in enhancing policy users of research findings and recommendations. Eight (8) technical papers were presented in the forum. Two (2) were submitted by Southern Christian College (SCC), another two (2) were from PSA XII and one paper each from DA XII, Notre Dame of Kidapawan College (NDKC), Notre Dame of Marbel University (NMU), and Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC). An open forum ensued after each session. Papers presented were the following: (1) Educational Challenges and Coping Mechanisms of Muslim Mothers in the Armed Conflict-Affected Areas in Sustaining the Needs of Their Schooling Children (EVELYN A. LOPEZ, Ed.D. -NDMC); (2) Corporate Practice of Private Higher Educational Institutions (JENNIFER L. SERIDON-NDMU); (3)Predicting the Vote of College Students on the Adoption of a Federal Form of Government (BLENN B. NIMER-NDKC); (4) Assessment on the Compliance with the Department of Tourism Standards of Hotel Establishments in Cotabato Province (NOEL D. MARCELO—SCC); (5) Women Behind Bars: Stories of Incarcerated Women in Prison Without Wall, North Cotabato District Jail (MELJANE GLADYBEST L. ROSALEJOS-SCC); (6) Regional/Provincial Rice Production Competitiveness Assessment in Region 12 ( ANGELITA F. ABRAZADO-DA XII); (7) How Far will Your Peso Go? Results of the September 2018 CPI (Ma. Naira S. Langco of the Mindanao State University (MSU)-General Santos City Senior High School took the Championship in this year’s PSA XII Stat Quiz (PSQ) held last October 30, 2018 at Villa Amor, Koronadal City. MSU-General Santos City Campus retained the championship for three years since the contest was started in 2016. Ms. Langco was coached by Juliemer B. Absalon. Bagging the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th were Dominic C. Carajay, Del Rafael I. Serag and Mary Angelie R. Victoria of Kidapawan City National High School. The three winning contestants were coached by Albert R. Antipuesto. Jorick C. Sacatani, of King’s College of Isulan won 4th place. Twenty three (23) contestants from seventeen (17) public and private secondary/high school institutions in SOCCSKSARGEN region competed in this year’s stat quiz. Cotabato City was represented by students from CCNHS-Rojas and Cotabato City State Polytechnic College (CCSPC)-Laboratory High School; Contestant from Cotabato Province were students of Kidapawan City National High School and Notre Dame of Midsayap College; Sultan Kudarat Province delegates were from Sultan Kudarat State University - Laboratory High School, King's College of Isulan, and Bagumbayan National High School. South Cotabato Province was represented by Koronadal National Comprehensive High School-Senior High School, Notre Dame of Marbel University-Senior High School, and Dole Philippines School. Contestant from General Santos City came from the Mindanao State University-General Santos City Senior High School, Notre Dame of Dadiangas University-Senior High School, New Society National High School and Fatima National High School. Contestant from Sarangani Province came from Malandag National High School, Glan School of Arts and Trades, and Malapatan National High School . Last October 30, 2018, about 50 participants from the regional line agencies, academe, LGUs and the private sector witnessed the concluding program for this year’s month-long observance of the 29th National Statistics Month (NSM) in the region. Spearheaded by the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) XII, the activity was sponsored by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-General Santos Branch (BSP) and was held at Hotel de Viajera, Koronadal City. RSC XII Vice-Chairperson and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XII Regional Director, Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, talked about the many applications of statistics and the new and emerging trends in the statistical field. RSC XII Chairperson and Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XII Regional Director, Teresita Socorro C. Ramos, emphasized the importance of statistics in our daily lives citing examples of how statistics can contribute to development. Perry B. Dequita, Deputy Director of BSP-General Santos Branch, pledged their continued support to all statistical development endeavores in the region. The winners of the Infographics display contest held during the 29th NSM Opening Ceremony last October 2, 2018 received tokens and Certificates of Recognition. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XII won first place. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-General Santos City Branch (BSP) ranked 2nd and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XII placed 3rd. In consonance with the agency’s wellness mantra “Health PSA. Happy PSA”, PSA XII successfully concluded the conduct of the agency’s annual sports fest dubbed “STATLYMPICS” on October 25-28, 2018 at Elai Resort and Recreation Center, Koronadal City. Each year, the regional and provincial offices of the PSA-XII took turns in hosting the annual sports event. Now on its 10th year, PSA Sultan Kudarat, headed by Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Herlita G. Caraan, was this year’s host. With the theme taglined as #wellnesspamore!, the 10th year sports fair was participated by 80 percent of the PSA XII employees. Participants competed in various events such as basketball, volleyball (mixed), badminton (mixed), scrabble, boggle, chess, dart, swimming, billiard, table tennis and parlour games including a cheering competition. Participants were grouped by team colors, namely (1) Chi-Square (x²)- yellow; (2) Alpha (а)-red; (3) Sigma (Σ)- green; and (4) Delta (Δ)-blue. At the end of the two-day activity, Team Sigma, under the leadership of CSS Herlita G. Caraan, was this year’s overall champion. Chi-square was 1st runner-up followed by Alpha as 2nd runner-up. Delta was declared 3rd runner-up. The winning teams all received corresponding trophies and cash prizes. Medals were also given out to each of the members of Team Sigma to recognize their contribution to the laurels received by the team. Population of Midsayap reaches at 151,684 Population of the Municipality of Midsayap Cotabato increases at 2.36 percent annually. As of August 1, 2015, the municipality of Midsayap has recorded a total population of about 151,684 persons. This count ranked second among the 18 municipalities of Cotabato Province and it comprised about 11% of the province’s total population which is 1,379,747. In May 2010 its population was 134,170 which means that it has increased by 17,514 in five-year time. The result showed that its population increased on the average of 2.36 percent annually from 2010 to 2015. The number of households on the other hand recorded at 34,198. Highlights on the Population of the Municipality of Kabacan, Cotabato based on the 2015 Census of Population. On August 1, 2015, the municipality of Kabacan has recorded a population of about 89,161 persons. This count ranked 6th among the 17 municipalities and 1 city of Cotabato Province and it comprised about 6.46% of the province’s total population which is 1,379,747. From 2010 to 2015 the population has increased by 7,879 and 27,163 persons from 2000 to 2015. Population of Libungan increased at the rate of 1.42 percent annually Based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015), Libungan, a municipality in the province of Cotabato, displayed a total population of 48,768 persons as of August 1, 2015. Compared to the previous 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) total population of 45,295 persons, the POPCEN 2015 result is larger by 3,473 persons.
