PSA XII officials attend Forum on the Latest Issuances on Government Rules and Regulations

National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Dr. Lisa Grace S. Bersales spearheaded the conduct of the Forum on the latest Issuances on Government Rules and Regulations on September 18-20, 2017 in Davao City. The forum aims to update the PSA officials on the latest issuances on government rules and regulations of Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Commission on Audit (COA) and Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Topics tackled during the 3-day forum included the CSC’s Omnibus Rules on Appointments and Other Human Resource Actions (ORA-OHRA), Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME HRM), and Risk Management Guidelines; DBM’s Procurement Rules and Laws, and Budget Execution and Guidelines; and, COA’s Auditing Rules and Regulations.

Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, together with CRASD Chief Lorna M. Sumalpong, and the four (4) PSOs of PSA-XII, namely: Belinda R. Penuela, Herlita G. Caraan, Jilmar F. Grecia and Ismael B. Ramos, Jr. represented PSA-XII in the said training.

PSA XII Receives Award as BSP’s 2017 Outstanding Partner

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XII was cited as BSP’s 2017 Outstanding Partner for Report on Regional Economic Developments in the Philippines for Region XII and ARMM during the 2017 Awards Ceremony and Annual Appreciation Lunch for BSP Stakeholders on September 19, 2017 in Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City . It was the second citation received by PSA XII in two consecutive years since 2016. This award is conferred to agencies and institutions that provided the BSP with information support for an effective environment scan of the region.
The awards ceremony was conducted as part of BSP’s 24th anniversary celebration. The annual event, which is now on its 14th year, is BSP’s way of honoring and expressing gratitude to the institutions that have provided exemplary support to their statistical undertakings, information needs and advocacy programs as well as to the effective delivery of the BSP’s functions and mandates.

Ms. Ma. Eileen A. Berdeprado, OIC-SOCD Chief of PSA-RSSO XII, received the award in behalf of its Regional Director, Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, who was attending a forum on the latest Issuances on Government Rules and Regulations in Davao City.

PSA’s Quest for ISO 9001:2015 Certification Continues

The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) Project Team visited the PSA RSSO XII on September 27-28, 2017 and PSA Sarangani on September 29, 2017 to conduct a QMS implementation check and assess their readiness for ISO 9001:2015 certification.

The team was headed by its Project Manager, Ms. Aileen A. Ricohermoso and Associate Project Officer, Ms. Natasha Michelle V. Abaya. Also present as an observer was PSO Reynelo S. Magno of PSA-Agusan Del Norte. The team used an audit approach in their assessment. The Management Process, Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD) and Civil Registration and Administrative Division (CRASD) were audited.

PSA XII conducts Regional Management Conference

The Philippine Statistics Authority XII conducted the Regional Management Conference (RMC) last September 7-8, 2017 held at SunCity Suites, General Santos City. It was headed by Regional Director Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, CESE and participated by four Provincial Statistics Officers and Chiefs of the two divisions in the RSSO XII.

The two-day meeting aims to assess the status of operations and activities in the regional and provincial offices of PSA XII. The items that were tackled include OPCR/IPCR, preparation for the 4th PSA anniversary, 9th Statlympics, 2018 Regional Planning Workshop (RPW), General Assembly, Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ), 28th National Statistics Month (NSM) Regional/Provincial Activities and QMS-ISO preparation.

PSA XII conducts 2nd Level Training on the 2017 Updating of List of Aquaculture Farms (ULAF)

The Philippine Statistics Authority XII will conduct the 2nd Level Training for the 2017 Updating of List of Aquaculture Farms (ULAF) on September 14-15, 2017 at Pagana Kutawato Native Restaurant, Cotabato City.

The two-day activity aims to provide an updated sampling frame for the 2018 Survey of Aquafarms. The updating will capture aquafarms excluded the 2017 list of Aquaculture Farms and their corresponding characteristics. De-listing of those not existing or closed will also be undertaken. The undertaking aims to collect and update information about the aquafarm on the name and address of operator, culture and management systems, area and/or volume, species cultured and location of the aquafarm. The aquafarm subsector contributes about 50.5 percent to the total volume of production for the fishery sector in 2016.

Seven Newly Appointed and Promoted Employees of PSA RSSO XII Sworn In

Seven newly appointed and promoted employees of the Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) XII took their oath of office before Regional Director Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, CESE on September 11, 2017 at the PSA RSSO XII, Conference Room, Cotabato City. Of these number, three (3) were promoted from the ranks and four (4) were newly hired.

The newly promoted employees were: Edward Donald F. Eloja, Senior Statistical Specialist; Shyla Marie M. Deticio, Administrative Officer IV; and Evelyn L. Quijano, Statistical Analyst. The new entrants to the civil service were: Mujahid J. Jaji, Information Systems Analyst I; Nazar A. Mohammadsha, Statistical Analyst; Fatima T. H.Salik, Information Officer I; and Hasnah K. Gayak, Assistant Statistician.
