PSA XII takes part in STI’s 2017 Jobs Fair

As one of the valuable corporate partners of STI College Cotabato, the PSA XII participated in the Jobs Fair 2017 that was conducted last March 18, 2017 at STI’s school premises in Cotabato City. The activity was in partnership with DOLE XII, TESDA XII, ABS-CBN and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the City Government of Cotabato. This event is one of the activities under STI's E2E System or the Enrolment to Employment System.

The objective of this activity is to help job seekers, particularly the graduates of STI, to land a job after graduation.

RSC XII conducts its First Quarter Regular Meeting for CY 2017

The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) XII conducted its First Regular Meeting for CY 2017 last March 28, 2017 at Viajera Dine and Cafe in Koronadal City. The meeting was presided over by the Hon. Arturo G. Valero, Ph.D., the RSC XII Committee Chairperson and NEDA XII Regional Director. Twenty representatives from member agencies, local government units, the academe, and the private sector were present during the said meeting.

PSA-XII Orients Students of Datu Siang National High School on RA 9048 and RA 10172

The Philippine Statistics Authority-RSSO XII was invited by Datu Siang National High School on March 9, 2017 to conduct a lecture on RA 9048 and RA 10172 to their Grade 7 to Grade 10 students. According to the school’s faculty, the lecture cum forum was intended to help students tackle concerns on unregistered births and provide them with information on how to address errors on birth certificates. Mr. Rodolfo M. Mendoza and Ms. Estrellita S. Balijon of PSA XII served as resource persons

PSA XII observes culmination of Civil Registration Month and launching of National Women’s Month

The PSA XII formally ended the month-long celebration of the 27th Civil Registration Month with a culmination program held at the Sun City Suites in General Santos City last March 8, 2017. The program was a two-in-one event as the office also launched the month-long celebration of the 2017 National Women’s Month with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women”.

Present during the program were the Local Civil Registration Officers and/or representatives from the various Municipal Civil Registration Offices across the region. Also in attendance were Regional Director Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, CRASD Chief Ms. Lorna M. Sumalpong, SOCD OIC Ms. Ma. Eileen A. Berdeprado, and the Provincial Statistics Officers, Supervising Statistical Specialists and Registration Officers of the PSA Provincial Offices in the region.

News Conference on the 2016 Economic Performance of SOCCSKSARGEN Region slated on May 4

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XII announces the holding of a News Conference on the 2016 Economic Performance of the SOCCSKSARGEN Region on May 4, 2017 (Thursday) 10:00AM, at the East Asia Royale Hotel in General Santos City. The main resource person is National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XII Regional Director Arturo G. Valero, PhD. Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, PSA XII Regional Director, will present the highlights of the 2016 economic performance of the region.Guests include Ms. Reinelda P. Adriano, Division Chief of Fisheries Statistics Division at the PSA Central Office, and Director Joey Sem G. Dalumpines of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) XII who will also act as moderator during the open forum.

Did you know that SOCCSKSARGEN’s Economy Grew by 5.0 percent in 2016?

The total value of goods and services produced in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region in 2016, as measured through the GRDP, was valued at P213.3 billion at constant 2000 prices.

SOCCSKSARGEN’s economy managed to grow by 5.0 percent in 2016, faster than the 3.3 percent growth in 2015. The double-digit acceleration in Industry and the steady performance of Services cushioned the effect of the slump in AHFF.

Services remained to account for the largest share of the regional economy at 40.3 percent in 2016, slightly higher than its 39.4 percent share in 2015. The share of Industry also expanded to 36.9 percent in 2016 compared to the previous year’s 34.1 percent. AHFF contributed 22.9 percent to the region’s total economic output in 2016, lower than its 26.5 percent share in 2015.

Skipjack, Yellow Fin Tuna and Hydraulic Cement Were SOCCSKSARGEN’s Top Imports (FTS November 2016

Skipjack is the region’s primary import in terms of freight on board (FOB) value, it constituted 20.38 percent of the region’s US$51,765,437.00 total imports in November 2016 in terms of FOB Value.

Skipjack or Stripe-Bellied Bonito, at 7,449,362.00 Kilograms, was the top import for the month at US$10.55 million. The commodity came from China, Taiwan, Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam.

Skipjack, Coconut Oil and Pineapple Were SOCCSKSARGEN’s Leading Exports (FTS November 2016)

Skipjack is the primary export of the region in terms of freight on board (FOB) value. In November 2016, the region exported US$61,989,807.00 worth of commodities to the other countries. Skipjack or Bonito accounted for 19.87 percent of the region’s total exports for the month.

Skipjack or Bonito ranked first among all exports of the region in terms of value during the period, totalling to US$12.31 million for 4,075,580.57 Kilograms of Skipjack that were exported to 27 countries around the world. About 24 percent or 1,003,996.05 Kilograms were shipped to the United States of America amounting to US$2,608,329.00

SOCCSKSARGEN Economy Expands by 5.0 percent; PSA XII Holds News Conference

SOCCKSARGEN Region’s economy hikes up by 5.0 percent in 2016 as measured by the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). This was the highlight in the recently concluded news conference conducted by the PSA Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) XII at the East Asia Royale Hotel in General Santos City last May 4, 2017. The news conference was simultaneously conducted in the 17 regions across the country.

The members of the panel were PSA XII Regional Director, Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon and NEDA XII Regional Director Arturo G. Valero. Assisting them were DTI XII Regional Director Ibrahim K. Guiamadel and Ms. Reinelda P. Adriano, Chief of the Fisheries Statistics Division of the PSA Central Office.
