The Philippine Statistics Authority XII conducted a Regional Dissemination Forum on the Full Year 2018 Official Poverty Statistics on 30 January 2020 at East Asia Royale Hotel, General Santos City. It was attended by more than sixty (60) participants coming from the Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), Local Government Units (LGUs), and tri-media.
OIC Regional Director Engr. Belinda R. Penuela spearheaded the conduct of the said activity. It was attended by Provincial Statistics Officers (PSOs), two (2) technical staff from the provincial offices and selected staff of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD).
OIC Deputy National Statistician of Civil Registration and Central Support Office (CRCSO) Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, CESO V, Senior Statistical Specialist Mechelle M. Viernes and Nicole Gabrielle H. Robles of Poverty and Human Development Statistics Division (PHDSD) were the resource speakers from PSA Central Office. Assistant Regional Director (ARD) of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XII Noel E. Quiratman gave the policy implications on the results of the full year 2018 Official Poverty Statistics for SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
It is hoped that the estimates will be useful to policy makers and program implementers in the formulation of appropriate policies and programs on poverty alleviation.
The Official Poverty Statistics of the Philippines was released to the public by PSA, in accordance with Executive Order No. 352, Series of 1996, Designation of Statistical Activities that Will Generate Critical Data for Decision-making of the Government and Private Sector and the PSA Board Resolution No. 01, Series of 2017-172, Approving the Refinements in the Official Poverty Estimation Methodology.
