Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), the total population including the institutional population of General Santos City is 697,315. Of this total, 695,410 persons comprised the household population.

Out of 695,410 household population of General Santos City, 50.65% (352,221) were males while 49.35% (343,189) were females. By age group, 31.21% (217,035) were under 15 years ols (young dependents).

On the other hand, persons aged 15 to 64 years old (working-age or economically-active population) totaled to 451,842 (64.97%), while those in age group 65 years old and above (old dependents) comprised the remaining 3.82% (26,533).

In 2015, persons aged 0-14 years, 15 to 64 years, and 65 years and over accounted for 31.58%, 65.08% and 3.34% respectively.
