The SOCCSKSARGEN Region posted a 2.9 percent annual inflation rate in 2016. This means that the prices of goods and services increased by 2.9 percent compared to their levels in 2015. The infla-tion rate in 2016 was higher by about 1.5 percent compared to the annual average inflation rate of 1.4 percent recorded the previous year 2015.

The upsurge can be traced from the spike in prices in the eight (8) of the 11 commodity groups in the market basket of the CPI in the region.
