The Municipality of Banga in South Cotabato recorded a total population of 91,536 as of 01 July 2024. This comprised those residing in both households and institutional living quarters based on the results of the 2024 Census of Population conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) last year.

The results of the 2024 Census of Population was declared official by the Philippine President on 11 July 2025 through Proclamation No. 973 in accordance with Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 87, series of 2025.

Banga recorded an additional 2,372 individuals from the 89,164 population recorded in the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH). The total population of Banga ballooned from 76,343 in 2010 to 91,536 in 2024.

Banga accounted for 9.1 percent of the 1,010,009 total population of  South Cotabato in 2024. As of 01 July 2024, it has the 4th  highest population in the province among the 10 municipalities and one city (Koronadal City).

On the other hand, the population growth rate (PGR) of the municipality showed a  decreasing trend over the 4-census periods from 2010 to 2024. The annual PGR in Banga dropped  from 1.83 percent during the period 2010 to 2015; 1.27 percent during the period 2015 to 2020 and to 0.63 percent during the period 2020-2024. From 2010 to 2024, the municipality was growing yearly at approximately 1.29 percent.

Five (5) local government units (LGUs) recorded growth rates within the 1.0% range, including Tantangan and T’boli (both at 1.31%).

Meanwhile, Lake Sebu was the only municipality to post a negative growth rate, declining at -0.42 percent during the same period.

When comparing annual population growth rates between the periods 2015–2020 and 2020–2024, Banga was among the six (6) LGUs that experienced a significant slowdown. Its growth rate dropped from 1.97 percent to 0.97 percent. Similar trends were observed in Koronadal City (from 2.35% to 1.62%), Polomolok (from 2.63% to 1.66%), Surallah (from 1.17% to 0.88%), Tampakan (from 0.78% to 0.76%), and T’boli (from 2.12% to 1.59%).

These shifts highlight a general deceleration in population growth across key areas of the province during the latter half of the decade.
