Koronadal City, a component city of South Cotabato, recorded a total population of 201,844 as of 01 July 2024. This comprised those residing in both households and institutional living quarters based on the results of the 2024 Census of Population conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) last year.
The results of the 2024 Census of Population was declared official by the Philippine President on 11 July 2025 through Proclamation No. 973 in accordance with Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 87, series of 2025.

Koronadal City recorded an additional 6,446 individuals to the 195,398 people recorded in the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH). This translated to an increase of 3.3 percent from 2020 to 2024 or a growth rate of 0.78 percent yearly during the five-year period (2020-2024). The total population of Koronadal City ballooned from 158,273 in 2010 to 201,844 in 2024.


Koronadal City accounted for 20.0 percent of the 1,010,009 total population of South Cotabato in 2024. As of 01 July 2024, it has the highest population in the province among the 10 municipalities and one city (Koronadal City).
Overall, the population growth rate (PGR) of the city showed a decreasing trend over the 3-census periods from 2015 to 2024. From 2010-2015, it recorded annual growth rate of 1.92 percent to a high 2.35 percent in 2015-2020. From 2015-2020, the annual PGR in Koronadal City slowed down to 0.78 percent in 2020-2024. In 2015-2024, the city was growing yearly at approximately 1.62 percent.


From 2015 to 2024, Koronadal City was the 2nd fastest-growing LGU in South Cotabato, with an average annual population growth rate of 1.62 percent next to Polomolok with a PGR of 1.66 percent. T’boli (1.59%) completed the top three (3) LGUs in South Cotabato with the fastest growing population in 2024. Five (5) local government units (LGUs) recorded growth rates within the 1.0% range, including Tantangan and T’boli, both with a PGR of 1.31 percent.
Meanwhile, Lake Sebu was the only municipality to post a negative growth rate, declining at -0.42 percent during the same period.
When comparing annual population growth rates between the periods 2015–2020 and 2020–2024, Koronadal City was among the six (6) LGUs that experienced a significant slowdown. Its growth rate dropped from 2.35 percent to 0.78 percent. Similar trends were observed in Banga (from 1.27% to 0.63%), Polomolok (from 2.63% to 0.56%), Surallah (from 1.17% to 0.55%), Tampakan (from 0.78% to 0.74%), and T’boli (from 2.12% to 0.99%).
These shifts highlight a general deceleration in population growth across key areas of the province during the latter half of the decade.

As of 1 July 2024, the three (3) most populous barangays in Koronadal City were Gen. Paulino Santos (22,025), Santa Cruz (20,544), and Sto. Niño (17,064). Completing the list of barangays with a population exceeding 10,000 were Zone III (12,614), and Zulueta (10,441).
Conversely, the barangay with the smallest population was Mambucal with 1,434 people. Aside from Mambucal, the other three (3) barangays with fewer than 3,000 population were Cacub (2,818), Assumption (2,458) and Esperanza (2,015).
