The Philippine Statistics Authority XII conducted the 2023 Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS) Second Level Training on 10-14 June 2024 at 3F Mapa Hall, PSA RSSO XII Office, Koronadal City. It was attended by the Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Provincial Focal Person (PFP), Assistant Provincial Focal Person (APFP), Team Supervisors (TS), and Statistical Researchers (SR) of the four provinces.

 Engr. Engr. Miguel N. Trenuela and Engr. Gerardo B. Canto Jr., Senior Science Research Specialists of Department of Energy—Visayas Field Office, Ms. Ma Kristalyn Bauyon of PSA DHSD, Ms. Hasnah G. Muyco and Ms. Norjahna M. Hadjinor of RSSO XII served as the resource person for the five-day training.

 The Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS) is a nationwide survey of households  jointly executed by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine Statistics Authority  (PSA). This is the fifth in the HECS series which started in 1989. The succeeding surveys were  conducted in 1995, 2004, and 2011. 

 The 2023 HECS is a stand-alone survey that gathers information on households’ utilization  of fuels, supply systems, patterns of energy use, and other indicators that may be useful  to assess the current energy profile of different households and communities in the country.  The data collected from this survey shall provide the DOE with updated and reliable data for  an effective household energy strategy for the Philippines.
