Pursuant to Republic Act No. 11315 also known as the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Act, PSA is mandated to conduct the CBMS synchronized data collection regularly every three (3) years. Each LGU is the primary data-collecting authority for CBMS in their respective locality.
One of the goals of the 2024 CBMS is to update the social registries of national government agencies, particularly the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Aside from collecting data, the CBMS is intended to capture several factors that can be used for multi-dimensional poverty analysis, policy formulation, poverty alleviation, and economic development in cities and municipalities nationwide.
PSA RSSO XII conducted the Joint First Quarter RSC XII Meeting and Regional Convening of the 2024 CBMS Coordinating Boards on 04 March 2024 at PSA RSSO XII Office, JYSL Building, Balmores St., Brgy. Zone II, Koronadal City, South Cotabato at 10:00 am via hybrid mode.
The said activity was presided by the RSC XII Vice-Chairperson, Chairperson of the RCCB, and the Regional Director of PSA XII, Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, CESO V. The event was attended by different regional line agencies in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region including the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XII, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII, Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) XII, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XII, Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Education (DepEd) XII, and Provincial Local Government Units of Region 12.
The activity started with an invocation, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and Ambisyon Natin 2040. Atty. Manulon delivers his message emphasizing the upcoming task that will commence in the second or third quarter of the year, depending on the statistics committee's readiness. He also announced that the SOCCSKSARGEN Region will be implementing the Census of Population (POPCEN) and CBMS simultaneously. He disclosed that originally, POPCEN will instigate in 2025, however, the plan in conducting the said projects has been laid out and the PSA is currently waiting for the resolution of PSA Board in conducting such given that both projects have its own objectives and structures.
RSC XII adopted two (2) CBMS related resolutions and Ms. Suaili presented the synthesis to the body. The meeting adjourn at 2:00 PM, it was moved by Ms. Dedoroy of NEDA XII and dully seconded by Ms. Limao of DILG XII.
