Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino on September 20, 1990, declaring October of every year as National Statistics Month (NSM), the PSS will spearhead the month-long annual celebration. The NSM aims to: (a) promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and (b) elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

Now on its 31st year, bearing the theme “Bridging Digital Gaps: Making Information Available To All”. The theme recognizes the importance of digitalization but emphasizes on the need to address the social inequality in terms of access and use of ICT. It underscores that making quality information accessible and available to all will enable leaders, policy- and decision makers to formulate better plans to serve our country’s economic and social needs.

Further, the second World Statistics Day (WSD) will be celebrated on 20 October 2020. This year’s theme “Connecting the world with data we can trust” reflects on the importance of trust, authoritative data, innovation and the public good in national statistical system.

To jumpstart the month-long celebration in SOCCSKSARGEN Region, the Opening Program will be held on 01 October 2020 at 1:30 pm via Zoom Meeting App. This year’s Opening Ceremony will be hosted by the Philippine Statistics Authority XII. After the short program, three (3) technical papers will be presented.

In support to the month-long celebration, RSC XII and RCCB XII issued Resolution No. 03 series of 2020 Enjoining All Government Agencies, Local Government Units, the Academe, and the Private Sector in Region XII to Support the 31st NSM and 3rd WSD Observance in SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
