The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) issued Memorandum Circular No. 2017-11 enjoining all agencies of the government, local government units, academic institutions, state universities and colleges, and the private sector nationwide to actively participate in and support the 28th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration this coming October 2017.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, "Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month”, the NSM is annually observed nationwide. The month-long NSM celebration aims to: (a) promote, enhance, and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and (b) elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “Figures for the Future: Realizing AmBisyon Natin 2040 Through Statistics” (“Estadistika para sa Hinaharap: Ambag sa Pagtupad ng AmBisyon Natin 2040”). The theme highlights the importance of statistics in the realization of the Filipino people’s vision of "matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay". The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) will host the 28th NSM Opening Ceremony at the national level.

Participating organizations, universities/colleges, regional line agencies and local government units are enjoined to conduct activities in line with the NSM celebration and to display the 28th NSM streamer/tarpaulin in the building façade throughout the month of October.
