Koronadal City – In a heartwarming display of community service, the LGU of Koronadal City through its City Civil Registry Office (CCRO) under City Civil Registrar Ms. Perla Quidilla, spearheaded the “Libreng Service Fee sa Valentine’s Day” initiative on February 14, 2025.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) South Cotabato Provincial Office assisted the CCRO to provide the necessary frontline services to 119 clients who were in need of copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates, as well as Certificates of No Marriage (CENOMAR) in security paper. Clients transacting that day only paid for the regular fees; service fees were waved that day. This special event, part of the 35th Civil Registration Month and Valentine’s Day celebrations, provided an opportunity for residents to access essential civil registry documents at no extra cost.
The event not only made vital records more accessible but also highlighted the importance of celebrating love and community spirit on Valentine’s Day. With the regular service fees waived, the “Libreng Service Fee” initiative was a meaningful gesture, ensuring that every resident, regardless of financial means, could obtain the documents they needed.
“It’s a wonderful way to serve the public on a special day like Valentine’s Day,” said CCRO Quidilla. “We are grateful for the partnership with PSA South Cotabato, which helped us assist more residents in accessing their civil registry records.”
For many of the clients, the event was more than just a simple service—it was a chance to fulfill an essential need without the financial burden. “I’ve been meaning to get my birth certificate for a while now, but with today’s event, it’s just a perfect time,” said one of the recipients.
The initiative’s success has paved the way for continued efforts in ensuring that vital civil services are accessible to all, reinforcing the role of local government units and national agencies like the PSA in empowering communities.
As the whole country continues the observance of the Civil Registration Month, residents are reminded of the ongoing efforts to make civil services more efficient, accessible, and community-oriented.
