The Philippine Statistics Authority Region XII conducted the 2023 National Information and Communications Technology Household Survey (NICTHS) Data Processing in its Provinces. It started from the Second Level Training (SLT) from 26 to 28 December 2024 at PSA Regional Office, followed by the Third Level Training (TLT) at Provincial Offices from 3 to 5 February 2025, and the data processing on 10 to 24 February 2025. Regional Focal Persons, Provincial Focal Persons, hired Data Processors, and other assigned personnels were the integral part of this activity.
The NICTHS Data Processing is a systematic series of operation that involves three stages such as organizing, cleaning, and validation of a collected data before it will undergo evaluation and result analysis. First, the data needs to be encoded and assembled into a suitable format with the application of certain statistical or mathematical functions. Second, the data needs to be cleaned by correcting errors and addressing missing values. Lastly, the data needs to be validated to ensure consistency and completeness in order to filter-out corrupted, duplicate and irrelevant data. This will facilitate meaningful analysis of the NICTHS data to serve as the reference of the policymakers to create evidence-based strategies to assess and improve the usage of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) among households in SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
During the data processing, the following guidelines should be observed: Availability of the 2012 Philippine Standard Occupational Classification (PSOC) and 2019 Updates to the 2009 Philippine Standard Industrial Code (PSIC), approaches in fixing errors, placing remarks, proper application of codes, and verifying uncertain entries.
Furthermore, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) plays a crucial role in the NICTHS operations. The generated data from NICTHS will be the reference of the DICT to monitor existing programs and create future policies towards advancements of ICT usage in the country.
