The 2023 Second Level Operational Training on Fisheries Surveys was conducted on 06-08 March 2023 at Virola Hall, PSA RSSO XII, JYSL Annex Building, Balmores St., Zone II, Koronadal City. It was participated by the Provincial Statistics Officers (PSOs) and Provincial Focal Persons.
Information Officer I Ms. Norjahna M. Hadjinor, the Regional Focal Person for Fisheries Surveys and Statistical Analyst Ms. Violinda J. Balogo of PSA Sarangani served as resource persons for the training.
The fisheries sector is composed of four (4) subsectors, namely; commercial, municipal fisheries, aquaculture and inland fisheries. There are four (4) quarterly surveys that generate volume and value of production by species at the national, regional and provincial level. The statistics primarily serve as input to the compilation of performance of agriculture and national accounts. The data sets are also used for policy making and program implementation on fisheries.
The quarterly fisheries survey aims to generate volume and value of fisheries production by species and quarter at the provincial, regional, and national levels.
During its quarterly conduct, data collection, supervision, field editing and data processing are done at the field offices. Three levels of data review are undertaken at the provincial, regional and national levels. The Fisheries Statistics Division (FSD) of the PSA CO is responsible for the release of the estimates and preparation of reports.
