The Philippine Statistics Authority XII conducted the 2023 Second Level Operational Training on Livestock and Poultry Surveys on 08-10 March 2023 at Virola Hall, PSA RSSO XII, JYSL Annex Building, Balmores St., Zone II, Koronadal City. It was participated by the Provincial Statistics Officers (PSOs) and Provincial Focal Persons.

           Statistical Specialist II Ms. Christy R. Amban, and Statistical Specialist II Mr. Regie T. Lemana of PSA Sultan Kudarat served as the resource persons for the training. 

           The Backyard Livestock and Poultry Survey (BLPS) and Commercial Livestock and Poultry Survey (CLPS) will be conducted quarterly in all provinces, including the National Capital Region. Moreover, the commodity coverage includes carabao, cattle, swine, goat, chicken, duck, and other animals tended by the household.

           The general purpose of Livestock and Poultry Surveys (LPS) is to generate estimates on inventory, number of animals disposed, average farmgate price, egg production of poultry animals, milk production of dairy animals and other related data.

           The data generated from this survey are disseminated through Situation Reports (annual and quarterly), infographics, and publication. More importantly, the production data generated from the survey are direct inputs to the Value of Production of Agriculture and accordingly to the computation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
