The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XII announces the conduct of the 2021 Survey of Innovation Activities of Establishments (2021 SIA).

The survey will be implemented by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The conduct of the survey was supported by International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada and in collaboration with the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS). This is the third in the series of surveys to be conducted on innovation activities of establishments, the second was in 2015. Information on innovation will provide a better understanding of the innovative behavior and activities of firms. Moreover, the 2021 SIA aims to gather new information on use of digital platforms by Philippine businesses recognizing that markets of all kinds are becoming more digital and digitalized with rapid use of internet.
The main objectives of the 2021 SIA are to: 1) to describe the types of innovation activities engaged-in by firms; 2) to determine the factors of innovation performance, barrier to innovation, and effects of innovation of firms; 3) to provide information on use of digital platforms; and 4) to provide policy recommendations to foster innovation in the country.

The 2021 SIA Field Enumeration started on 26 December until 13 January 2022. Eleven (11) Statistical Researchers were hired to undertake the distribution of questionnaires or field enumeration in SOCCSKSARGEN Region. The nationwide survey covers 13,475 establishment samples with SOCCSKSARGEN Region having 430 sample establishments.

The general public is enjoined to support the aforesaid statistical operation by providing the truthful information required in the said survey.
