
Koronadal, South Cotabato — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region XII presented the inflation data for June 2025 during a virtual dissemination forum held via Google Meet on 14 July 2025. The event gathered representatives from regional line agencies, media, and various stakeholders. Regional Director Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, CESO V, led the presentation, revealing that the region posted a -0.9 percent inflation rate for the month, marking the fifth consecutive month of negative inflation since February.
SOCCSKSARGEN continued to hold the lowest inflation rate among all regions for the eighth month in a row. RD Manulon highlighted key contributors to the overall inflation movement, including increases in the indices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (1.7 percent), Transport (-2.9 percent), and Restaurants and Accommodation Services (1.7 percent). He emphasized that the region’s persistent low inflation reflects stable to declining prices in major commodity groups.
Among the top five commodities that significantly influenced June’s overall inflation were Rice (-20.4 percent), Corn (-12.8 percent), Gasoline (-8.7 percent), Diesel (-8.7 percent), and fresh Pumpkins, Squash, and Gourds (-16.2 percent). For the bottom 30 percent income households, the region recorded an even lower inflation rate of -2.0 percent. The primary source of this deceleration was the price drop in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, which posted a 2.9 percent inflation rate and contributed 53.5 percent to the overall inflation for the sector.
