Roll out of 2024 Commodity Flow Survey

The Commodity Flow Survey (CFS) is a new survey undertaken by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) that aims to gather quarterly information on the movement of commodities from one province to another via road mode of transport.

This survey covers selected establishments engaged in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing, Mining and Quarrying, Manufacturing, and Wholesale Trade Sections in the country. The generated statistics from this survey will enhance the current Domestic Trade Statistics (DTS) which compiles the movement of air and water modes of transport only.

The compilation of DTS is sourced from administrative documents such as Coasting Manifest and Coastwise Passenger Manifest from Port Management Offices of the Philippine Ports Authority, copies of Air Waybills from domestic airlines, and copies of Daily Reports of Outgoing Shipment from the Philippine National Railways (PNR) for commodities carried through water, air, and rail transport systems in the country, respectively. However, the compilation for DTS carried through rail are excluded due to discontinuance of cargo operation of the PNR in 2007.

All information collected in the 2024 CFS pertains to commodities that were transported by an establishment via road mode of transport within the reference quarter of the year. The sample establishments may respond to the survey through the use of electronic (Excel file) questionnaire or accomplish the hardcopy CFS questionnaire.

The data collection will start on October 28, 2024, until December 13, 2024. The province has a total workload of 19 establishments, with only one (1) hired Statistical Researcher to do the data collection.

To ensure successful implementation of CFS in the province, OIC - Chief Statistical Specialist Marifi P. De Asis solicited support from the public, particularly to sample establishments, to provide timely, accurate and truthful data to the PSA.
