PSA XII reports April 2025 Inflation of SOCCSKSARGEN Region

       Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The Philippine Statistics Authority XII conducted the Data Dissemination of April 2025 Inflation Results of SOCCSKSARGEN Region on 14 May 2025 at PSA RSSO XII Office, Koronadal City. It was attended by the representatives of different regional line agencies and other stakeholders.

       SrSS Wilmer S. Bacera welcomed the participants and explained that inflation is the rate at which prices for goods and services rise, reducing the purchasing power of money. He highlighted that this key economic indicator affects living costs, interest rates, wages, and overall economic health, making it essential for governments, businesses, and consumers to monitor.

       The February 2025 Inflation Report of SOCCSKSARGEN Region was presented by Office-In-Charge of SOCD Ms. Sittimazuin M. Hofileña, MNSA. She reported that the region recorded a negative 1.4 percent inflation rate in April 2025, the lowest among all regions in the country for the month, according to official data and marks the sixth consecutive month that the region has posted the lowest inflation rate outside the National Capital Region.

       Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages drove the April 2025 inflation slowdown in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region, posting a -3.3 percent rate and contributing 88.9 percent to the overall deceleration. Transport followed with a -3.9 percent rate and a 10.6 percent share in the decline. Rice (-18.6%), Gasoline (-13.0%), Corn (-12.1%), Other pelagic fish (-3.2%), and Eggplants (-13.9%) contributed most significantly to the downward trend. For the bottom 30% income households, the region recorded a -2.5% inflation rate in April 2025.
