The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Cotabato Province actively participated in the Advocacy Campaign on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) and National ID Registration spearheaded by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) on May 14, 2025, held at Barangay Dungos, Tulunan, Cotabato. The initiative brought together over a hundred Muslim Filipinos from the Municipality of Tulunan, with the goal of promoting awareness on the importance of timely civil registration and the benefits of the National ID System.

As part of the program, Statistical Specialist II Patrick John M. Fernandez delivered an engaging presentation on Census and Population Statistics and the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS). He emphasized how these data systems serve as essential tools in evidence-based policy-making, equitable resource allocation, and delivery of government programs and services, particularly in marginalized communities.

Meanwhile, Registration Officer II Jenny Pearl C. Junasa, the designated National ID Focal Person, provided a comprehensive update on the National ID System. She discussed the rationale behind the recent rebranding of the National ID to enhance public understanding and acceptance, noting that the term “National ID” resonates more clearly with the public. She further explained that the National ID is designed as a foundational identification system that simplifies access to government services, promotes financial inclusion, and helps streamline administrative processes for every Filipino.

To maximize the reach of National ID, the PSA Cotabato team also delivered on-site registration services, catering to individuals who had not yet registered for the National ID. Special attention was given to children aged below five years old, in support of the “Rehistro Bulilit” campaign, which promotes early registration for lifelong identity access. The team successfully registered 35 individuals during the event.

In addition, the PSA facilitated the issuance of the National ID in paper form and extended assistance to qualified individuals in accessing their digital National ID, further supporting the transition toward a more inclusive and technology-enabled identification system.

Beyond National ID services, PSA Cotabato also provided civil registration assistance during the activity. Attendees were assisted in requesting civil registry documents eligible for Security Paper (SecPa) printing, helping address documentation needs for various legal and personal purposes. A total of 143 civil registry document requests were processed.

This collaborative effort reflects the PSA Cotabato Province's ongoing commitment to bringing vital government services closer to the people, especially among underrepresented sectors such as Muslim Filipino communities. The agency remains steadfast in its mission to strengthen awareness and expand access to both the Philippine Identification System and Civil Registration services, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind in the pursuit of inclusive development.
