The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is set to conduct the EA Delineation for the Development of 2024 Enumeration Area Reference File (EARF) for the 2024 Community-based Monitoring System and Census of Population (2024 CBMS-POPCEN) field operations. Among the key preparatory tasks for this is the creation of accurate and reliable Enumeration Area (EA) maps and the subsequent final Enumeration Area Reference File (EARF). These resources will play a vital role in facilitating the effective planning and execution of census field enumeration activities.

The Enumeration Area Delineation for the Development of 2024 Enumeration Area Reference File (EARF) for the 2024 Community-based Monitoring System and Census of Population (2024 CBMS-POPCEN) involves the merging and delineation of previous EA maps, along with field validation to ensure the accessibility of the pre-processed EAs.

An Enumeration Area (EA) serves as the fundamental geographical unit for collecting data during a census field enumeration. While it may encompass an entire barangay in some instances, practical considerations necessitate the delineation of a barangay or any of its EAs with significant population growth into two or more EAs, each containing at least 100 households but no more than 300 households.

As part of the preparation for the aforementioned activity, the Philippine Statistics Authority Region 12 has conducted a series of trainings from January 22 to February 2, 2024 for its Map Data Reviewer (MDR), Map Data Processor (MDP), and Map Data Verifier (MDV). The EA Delineation Activity for 2024 is scheduled to begin on February 5 and will end on April 5, 2024.
