In line with Section 11 of Republic Act No. 11055, otherwise known as Philippine Identification system (PhilSys) Act, all registered persons are required to update the necessary information in case of change in or correction of entry/ies in the information collected and stored under the PhilSys. Pertinent thereto, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has fully implemented the availability of updating services to the general public.
Currently, only changes of entry or entries on the demographic information are available, including corrections that may affect a person's nationality, age, status, or filiation. This also encompasses the correction of clerical or typographical errors, which are minor mistakes such as misspelled names or incorrect places of birth.
The Philippine Statistics Authority SOCCSARGEN region started its updating services last 05 December 2023. A total of 4,125 National ID registrants have updated their records as of 31 October 2024.
Updating of National ID demographic information in free for all. Currently, there is no online updating services and only in the National ID Registration Centers the updating of records can be done.
To update a National ID record, you can:
Visit a National ID Registration Center
File the required forms and supporting documentation
Wait for the PSA to process the changes
Receive an updated National ID
For documentary requirements:
Change of Name: A marriage certificate, judicial decree of name change, or other relevant court orders.
Correction of Personal Details: Birth certificate, affidavit of correction, or other legal documents.
Change of Address: Proof of residence such as utility bills, lease agreements, or barangay certification.
Biometric Changes: Medical certifications or other relevant documentation justifying the update.
The National ID number (PSN) assigned to you will remain the same, even if other information changes.
Updating of national IDs helps the citizens to change their status or correct their misspelled names and eventually update their National IDs.
This program aims to reach those individuals who have a correction to their demographic information and to ensure that every Filipino residents, can easily update and use their National IDs in any transaction.
