The Digital National ID is the official digital version of the National ID easily accessible through computers or smartphones with an internet connection. Like other formats such as the National ID and printed ePhilID, the Digital National ID is a valid proof of identification and age that can be presented in any government or private transactions. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), launched the Digital National ID, along with authentication platforms, National ID eVerify and National ID Check on 10 June 2024.
A supplement the advisory of the acceptance of the Digital National ID dated 11 June 2024 as a valid and sufficient proof of identity, subject to authentication.
On 29 September 2024, the PSA release an advisory on how to download the digital National ID to mobile phones and devices.
The public, government and private institutions are advised to use the platform National ID Check through the website https://everify.go.ph/check. This platform enables users to verify and confirm the Digital National ID by scanning the QR code.
Like other formats, the PhilID and ePhilID, the Digital National ID has the same functionality and validity and shall be honored and accepted in all transactions requiring proof of identity and age as specified in Section 13 of R.A. No. 11055 consistent with Executive Order No. 162, series of 2022.
Any agency or relying party who will not accept any form of the National ID without justifiable reasons can be penalized under R.A. 11055, otherwise known as “Philippine Identification Act of 2018”.
With these developments, every registered Filipino now has improved access to reliable and secure proof of identity that can be conveniently accessed and authenticated on their devices. The Digital National ID will streamline transactions, improve service delivery, and ultimately make doing business easier for everyone. This is another step towards digitalization and it will facilitate the faster distribution and wider utilization of the National ID.
