The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Sultan Kudarat Provincial Office has launched the "Rehistro Bulilit" campaign to intensify the registration of children aged 1 to 4 years old for the National ID System. The campaign, which kicked off in Tacurong City on August 23 and 29, 2024, with events held in Barangays Rajah Muda and New Passi, aims to make the National ID accessible to all Filipinos, regardless of age.

PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, emphasized the inclusivity of the National ID system, stating, "The registration of children ages 1-4 years old in the National ID is part of our commitment in making the National ID inclusive."

The PSA Sultan Kudarat Provincial Office recognized the importance of making the registration process simple and convenient for children and their families by establishing a colorful registration booths with games and activities for children to encourage participation.

Before registration, the PSA Sultan Kudarat team and barangay officials conducted information sessions for parents and guardians. These sessions stressed the importance of registering children aged 1 to 4 years old for the National ID System, outlining the benefits and uses of the ID, while also addressing concerns about unauthorized printing or misuse of Digital IDs. The sessions also explained the registration process and required documents.

During registration, a parent or guardian must provide supporting documents with the child's details. The child's photo and basic information are collected, while the parent or guardian's biometric details are scanned for authentication. At the age of five, the child's complete biometric information, including an updated photograph, iris scan, and fingerprints, will be captured.

The "Rehistro Bulilit" campaign has already seen success, with 59 children aged 1 to 4 registered in its first events. The PSA team also registered 16 individuals aged 5 and up and assisted parents in generating their Digital National IDs.

Overall, the PSA's efforts, including the Rehistro Bulilit campaign demonstrates its commitment to making the National ID System accessible and inclusive for all Filipinos, regardless of age or location. By registering children at an early age, the PSA aims to ensure that all Filipinos have a valid and reliable proof of identity to access essential services and benefits.
