The headline inflation in Sarangani decreased further to 4.7 percent in January 2024 from 5.1 percent in December 2023. This is higher than the national and regional levels at 2.8 percent and 4.1 percent, respectively. Inflation rate in January 2023 was higher at 8.2 percent. Average inflation for the first month of the year was observed at 4.7 percent.

The headline inflation or the annual rate of change on the prices of goods and services in the market basket in General Santos City decreased to 2.9 percent in January 2024 from last month’s inflation at 3.9 percent. This was lower than the regional level at 4.1 percent and higher than the national level at 2.8 percent. This was also lower by 4 percentage points from a year ago of the same month at 6.9 percent.

The headline inflation rate or the year-on-year change in the prices of goods and services commonly purchased by people in the province of Sultan Kudarat continued to slow down to 3.8 percent in January 2024 from 6.3 percent in December 2023. In January 2023, the inflation rate was higher at 7.3 percent.
South Cotabato
Inflation rate of South Cotabato’s bottom 30% income households decreased to 6.0 percent in January 2024 from 6.9 percent recorded in December 2023. It was lower by 1.4 percentage points from the same month last year at 7.4 percent and 0.9 percentage points lower from December 2023 at 6.9 percent.

Cotabato Province
The Province of Cotabato (North Cotabato) has a total population of 1,490,618 as of May 1, 2020 based on the result of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) recently released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The population count was declared official for all purposes by the President of the Republic of the Philippines pursuant to Proclamation No. 1179 dated 06 July 2021.
