SOCCSKSARGEN Region’s annual inflation rate for All Items for the Bottom 30% Income Households in February 2020 went up by 2.7% from 2.3% the previous month. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (25.0%) recorded the highest inflation during the month under review. Other commodity groups that posted higher inflation rates compared to January 2020 include Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (7.8% to 8.6%); Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Maintenance of the House (2.1% to 2.2%); Clothing and Footwear (3.1% to 3.7%), and Recreation and Culture (1.7% to 1.8%). A continued deflation was noted in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (-1.8% to -1.3%).

Results from the 2018 National Migration Survey (NMS) revealed that about 12.4 percent of the households in SOCCSKSARGEN Region had Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in 2018. Nationwide, the proportion of households in urban areas with OFs were slightly higher than those located in rural areas at 9.0 percent versus 8.3 percent.
