Skipjack is the region’s primary import in terms of freight on board (FOB) value, it constituted 20.38 percent of the region’s US$51,765,437.00 total imports in November 2016 in terms of FOB Value. Skipjack or Stripe-Bellied Bonito, at 7,449,362.00 Kilograms, was the top import for the month at US$10.55 million. The commodity came from China, Taiwan, Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam.

Skipjack is the primary export of the region in terms of freight on board (FOB) value. In November 2016, the region exported US$61,989,807.00 worth of commodities to the other countries. Skipjack or Bonito accounted for 19.87 percent of the region’s total exports for the month.

Population of Koronadal City increased at the rate of 1.93 percent annually Based on the 2015 Census of Population (2015 POPCEN), the city of Koronadal posted a total of 174,942 persons as of August 1, 2015. This is larger by 16,669 persons compared to its total population of 158,273 persons counted in 2010. The increase in the population count from 2010 to 2015 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.93 percent. This is higher than the 1.70 percent annual PGR of the province between the census years 2000 and 2010. Koronadal city population increased by about 41,156 persons in the last 15 years from only 133,786 persons in 2000 to 174,942 persons in 2015.

South Cotabato’s inflation rate posted a slight increase to 3.90 percent in December 2017. This is about 0.4 percentage point higher than the rate posted a year ago of the same reference month (from 3.50 to 3.90 Inflation Rate). The year-on-year price situation was up to 3.88 percent change in all item index due to the significant increase in the heavily-weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages with 5.78 percent change (from 169.5 to 179.3). The same is true for the Non-food index with 1.63 percent change (from 122.8 to 124.8).
