The headline inflation or the annual rate of change in the prices of goods and services in the market basket in General Santos City slowed down to 3.6 percent in August 2024 from 4.3 percent in July 2024. This was higher than the national level at 3.3 percent and equal to the regional level at 3.6 percent.

The headline inflation or the annual rate of change on the prices of goods and services in the market basket in General Santos City increased to 4.3 percent in July 2024 from June 2024 inflation at 2.7 percent. This was lower than the regional and national levels at 4.6 percent and 4.4 percent, respectively. However, the inflation level was higher by 1.9 percentage points from a year ago of the same month at 2.4 percent. The average inflation or the year-to-date inflation of the city was recorded at 3.4 percent.

The inflation or the annual rate of change on the prices of goods and services in the market basket for the bottom 30% income households or the low-income group in General Santos City increased to 5.0 percent in July 2024 from last month’s inflation at 3.8 percent. This was lower than the regional and national levels at 5.4 percent and 5.8 percent, respectively. However, the rate was higher by 1.2 percentage points from a year ago of the same month at 3.8 percent. The average inflation or the year-to-date inflation of the city was recorded at 4.5 percent.

The inflation or the annual rate of change on the prices of goods and services in the market basket for the bottom 30% income households or the low-income group in Sarangani Province escalated to 5.8 percent in July 2024 from last month’s inflation at 5.2 percent. This was higher than the regional at 5.4 percent and equal to national level at 5.8 percent. However, this was lower by 0.5 percentage points from a year ago of the same month at 6.3 percent. The average inflation or the year-to-date inflation of the province was recorded at 6.1 percent.
Sarangani
The headline inflation in Sarangani accelerated to 4.8 percent in July 2024 from 4.2 percent in June 2024. This was higher than the regional and national levels at 4.6 percent and 4.4 percent, respectively. In July 2023, the inflation rate was lower at 4.4 percent. The provincial average inflation from January to July 2024 stood at 5.0 percent. (Table 1 and Figure 1).

Headline inflation rate or the annual rate of change on the prices of goods and services in the market basket for all income households in SOCCSKSARGEN Region decreased to 3.8% in June 2024 from 3.2% the previous month. This is 0.1 percentage point higher than the 3.7% national headline inflation for the current month under review.

The Philippine Statistics Authority Sarangani Provincial Statistics Office conducted the Municipal Level Training, Coordination and Field Visit to the Local Government Unit of Glan on the Adoption of Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) on 19 June 2024 at the Liga ng mga Barangay Office, Poblacion, Glan, Sarangani Province. The activity was attended by the participants from the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) and selected staff from the PSA Sarangani headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Ismael B. Ramos, Jr., together with Supervising Statistical Specialist Marifi P. De Asis.
